Maister Maity Maister Maity is a professor of mathematics at Presidency University, Calcutta. He received his Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1974. Professor Maity has published about 40 research papers in leading journals and four books including a monograph on Chaos, Nonlinear Dynamics and Games with Elsevier Science Publishers. He has also served as a referee for scholarly journals such as "Journal of Differential Equations, Journal of Applied Dynamical Systems," "Mathematical Reviews," "Zentralblatt fur Mathematik," and "Combinatorica. " He is a member of the Calcutta Mathematical Society. Professor Maity's visits include the University of East Anglia under the British Council Fellowship, England in 1990-91. He visited Shizuoka University, Japan in 1997-98 under the Indo-Japanese fellowship program. MATHEMATICS NAMED AS A YOUNG SCIENCE IN INDIA BY THE MANA IEC STEERING COMMITTEE - Prof. Dr. A K Sinha , Chairman of Department of Mathematics, Jadavpur University & Member of Executive Council , West Bengal State Council for Science & Technology, Govt. of West Bengal , Kolkata,In 1971, he was awarded the President's Prize from the Indian Academy of Science for his work on nonlinear phenomena. Professor Maity received the University of Calcutta's Excellence in Education Award in 1985. He received CSIR Young Scientist Award in 1976 for his paper entitled "A Correction to Baumol's Model for Competitive Equilibrium", published in "Mathematical Reviews" (Vol. 63 (1975), No. 6).
