Automatically integrates to manage your downloads. You can also drag and drop files, or use the Internet Download Manager from the command line. Internet download managers can dial your modem at scheduled times, download files of your choice, then hop up or shut down your computer when you're done. So in this post i will tell you that how does it work
The main window displays a list of downloaded files. This list includes additional information about downloaded files, such as file size, download status, estimated completion time, current download speed, and download details. You can sort the list by any column by clicking on the column header.
Download control buttons (Add URL, Start / Resume, Stop, Pause All, Delete, All Complete, Delete, Schedule, Tell a Friend) are at the top of the list. They can be enabled or disabled, depending on the steps possible for the current selection of downloads.
Click Tell a Friend to tell your friends about Internet Download Manager.
You can add a new file to download with the Add URL button. You can enter a new URL in the text box or select a URL from the existing URL. You can also specify the login information if the server requests permission by checking the "Use permissions" box.
If the URL format is correct, the "Save As" dialog box will appear, where you can enter the file description and select the path to save the file. Alternatively, you can add details later in the "Download Properties" dialog. There are three buttons at the bottom of the dialog window. If you want to cancel the download, press the Cancel button.
If you want to start the download immediately, press Start / Restart on the download. This file will open the IDM file download dialog. The dialog box gives you additional control over the download. It also shows the download progress, average download speed, estimated time, current download status, if the test list is supported by the server, etc. The dialog also contains a graph to show the download progress for each section of the downloaded file.
Press the pause button to postpone the download or cancel to stop the download and close the dialog. You can resume the download at any time. Note that the resume button restarts the download from the last saved position when the remote server supports this function.
The Stop button stops the download of selected files. You can also stop the download by pressing the Cancel button in the File Download dialog or by closing the dialog. All downloads keep blocking all buttons.
The Delete button removes the selected files from the download list. It is only enabled for full or paused file downloads. If the file download is not complete, IDM will ask you to confirm its removal from this list.
Delete completed button (only available in registered version) Removes all completed downloads from the list.
The Scheduler button opens the Scheduler dialog window where you can set a timer to perform download tasks. Column Q shows whether the file is in the download queue. You can add or remove a file from a row by right-clicking the file name and selecting the "Add to queue" and "Remove from queue" menu items.
With a right mouse click on a file in the download list, all the main controls are available from the File menu and the pop-up menu.
You can select the Properties item in the pop-up menu to view / edit the properties of the selected file. You can change the location to save the file, add descriptions, change the URL or server login information (username and password).
Types
To the left of the main window is the download category tree. Internet Download Manager offers a category function to organize and manage your files. If you don't need it, you can close the category window and make no choice when downloading files. Each download category contains a name, a default download directory, and a list of related file types. IDM has several descriptive categories like music, video, program, document, etc. You can delete, edit or add your own categories.
Right-clicking on a category item will bring up a menu allowing you to add new categories or edit or delete existing items. When adding a category, you can choose the file extension that will be associated with the category, and you can choose the default download directory where files in that category will be placed.
For example, the documentation category may have the following extensions "doc pdf xls txt" and the following default download category "c: s dow
